Why doesn't the Democrat party just call themselves the Socialist party?

I mean, they're all about redistributing wealth, class envy and entitlements, taxing successful people and giving it to less successful people, killing inconvenient children, destroying the private sector, persecuting religions, and promoting immorality. Sounds a lot like socialism/communism.
