Which economic system is better for the whole of humanity socialism or capitalism?

capitalism is great if you are the one on top but there are always 1 million others being ground down under the weight of that one person on top, the many struggle so the few can get richer and have more power over the many. or socialism where everyone pools their resources together to make sure basic human needs are provided for, everyone gets a house everyone gets food everyone gets the ability to succeed... whether you rise above or not is up to you. forget which is better for "you" which is better for the entire human race?
