Is it a given that capitalism, with its free market and profit motive, emanates from and creates selfishness?

Capitalism, and the free market system has,and always will produce the "Lion's Share" of societies wants and needs due in part because these two things can only begin and sustain themselves in a free atmosphere.Socialism throughout history has failed in and of itself because it produces little for its supporters, and demands much from them, thereby eliminating individual initiative to produce and grow by ones own labor."Selfishness" dwells within the poor as well as the "Capitalists",so does this term mean that it drives a person or Society to become "poor"? It is the nature of humans to produce for themselves to survive, and some wish to produce more to better their place among their group and that groups existence. This is how the free market, and capitalism starts, and grows.Selfishness, and Selflessness both will always be determined by character and virtue, not by profit,or poverty!
