Why do people consider socialism a good thing??!?

Under socialism everybody is treated equal and everybody has equal that is about the only good aspect of it, so that must be why they think it is good. The problem is the government owns everything including you and they tell you what job to do, where to live, what you can eat and drink, etc. etc. Socialism always leads to tyranny, which is why the more social programs we have, the more power the government has over our lives. This is also why a lot of people hate Obama because everything he wants to do put this country one step closer to socialism.
