My female friend told me she was asexual!?

My female friend and I were talking one day and she had told me how she was raped when she was 18 every day by her boyfriend, so now she is asexual.. When talking more, she admitted she might be bi-curious. I too admitted that I may be as well. We have been talking about it a lot lately, so I threw out there that "because I am big" no girl would give me the time of day. an she said that she would.. So I asked her on a date.. Because she and I don't want anyone to know yet, I told her that it would be our little Secrete, and as far as anyone else knew, we were just two friends hanging out.. She said no, but later in the conversation, she said it was because she panics when she gets asked out because of what happened to her... She is coming over Friday to hang, just me and her, do you guys think I should bring it up again, and see if I can get close to her, maybe hold her hand, or do you think that would be to forward since, she told me no, but then later said it wasn't anything to do with me..??? Keep in mind that this was the very first time asking a girl out, and I was shot down..
