Are 10 day weather forecasts accurate?

I'm leaving for the Outer Banks in North Carolina on Friday for a week and I looked at the weather and it says isolated and scattered thunderstorms for the whole week! I feel like I'm going to cry because I've been looking forward to this for months. I've been told that weather on the coasts changes frequently, but I really don't know. Do you think the prediction will be correct? :(
